Canon 5d mark II review by Canon Service Center

Canon's update to the wildly popular full frame EOS 5D is here. The EOS 5D Mark II has a 21.1-megapixel full-frame CMOS sensor with DIGIC 4 Image Processor, a vast ISO Range of 100-6400 (expandable to ISO L: 50, H1: 12800 and H2: 25600), plus EOS technologies like Auto Lighting Optimizer and Peripheral Illumination Correction. It supports Live View shooting, Live View HD videos, and more. It can shoot up to 3.9 fps, has 9 AF points plus 6 AF assist points, a new 98% coverage viewfinder, a 3.0-inch Clear View LCD (920,000 dots/VGA) and a rugged build.

Canon's new 5D Mk2 21.1 mp full frame camera has a larger buffer than the the 5D, fire up to 3.9 fps and is well sealed to protect the shutter that is rated for 300,000 frames. The best Canon 5D improvment will be the CMOS sensor that performs well in low light conditions and noice reduction software for image improvement using high ISO settings.

SPTS expects the Canon 5D Mark 2 shutter to hold up well for high volume shooters, as does the current Canon 5D, but high volume wedding photographers that rack off over 3,000 frames per wedding may experience repair needs if the "shutter release system" fails under high volume use like the current Canon 5D. The two main repairs we see on the current 5D are "shutter release system" failure after high volume of releases and replacement of the 45 deg. reflex mirror that falls out at an alarming rate.
