Photo Accessory

MediaCenter Review - Great new photo accessory for backup and viewing.

This just came across my desk.  I do some tech product reviews and have been very impressed with this product so far.  It is nearing production ready status but already it performs as advertised.  I was able to transfer from many different memory cards directly to the device, including a built in compact flash for all you photographers.  Also, the USB host connection is such a nice feature.  I know longer have to take my PC to backup all of my photos - with the MediaCenter I can simply insert my memory card into the device and all of pictures are instantly stored on the internal hard drive.  I can also get all of those pictures from my photo happy sister in law by borrowing her memory card for a few minutes to transfer all of her pictures to my device as well.  I had it over the weekend and was able to utilize the video out function by playing a slideshow of all of the days pics right on the TV.  I transferred all of my music from my PC that was non-drm protected and it plays great.  The device is SO SMALL to be so capable as only some of the much more expensive products on the market.  Apparently Amazon Unbox compatibility and some DRM permissions will be available in the form of a software / firmware update via the company website.

The software is very easy and user intuitive.  A very sleek design eliminates multiple buttons and a bunch of plastic.  The "buttons" are simply LED's on the face of the device that require just a little pressure to execute the function or bring up the multiple pop up menus with all of the options.

According to company officials the product will be available through B&H Photo and Adorama Camera in about a month but you can reserve one on their website starting in the next couple of weeks.

That's All.

Be Interesting.
